  • An abacus is a calculation tool, traditionally consisting of a frame with rods or grooves and beads, used for performing arithmetic calculations.
  • It helps in visualizing numbers and performing operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Structured Programs: Look for structured abacus programs or courses that provide a clear learning path.
  • Online & Offline Resources: BrainBuild Abacus offer abacus learning programs via Online & Offline, but ensure they are reputable and interactive.
  • Practice: Consistent practice is crucial for mastering abacus calculations.
  • Patience and Persistence: Learning abacus takes time and effort, so be patient and persistent

To understand abacus mental math and its benefits, we have to first know what Abacus and mental math is.
Mental math is the technique of doing calculations mentally without using any pen paper or calculator. Kids who have done abacus courses up to certain levels are able to visualize the abacus instrument and do long calculations mentally with astonishing speed.
Abacus is an ancient calculating instrument that was primarily invented for doing calculations. About thirty years back it was discovered that this simple calculating instrument can be an important brain development tool for kids between 6 to 14 years of age. The human brain can be considered to be divided into two parts or hemispheres. The left or logical brain and the right or creative brain. Different responsibilities have been assigned to both parts of the human brain. While the left or logical brain is responsible for logic, numbers, calculations, and identification of black & white colors, the right or creative brain is responsible for creativity, imagination, concentration, recall & photographic memory. Abacus works on the principle of simultaneously activating both the hemispheres of a child’s brain resulting in improved concentration, listening ability, photographic memory, recall, mental calculating skill, and overall performance. As a result of this, the child performs better in all the subjects.

  • While there's no strict age limit, the ideal age range for starting abacus learning is generally considered to be between 5 and 12 years old.
  • At this age, children's brains are highly receptive to new information and skills
  • Improved Mental Math Skills: Abacus training can significantly enhance mental arithmetic abilities.
  • Enhanced Concentration and Focus: The process of using the abacus requires concentration and focus, which translates to other areas of learning.
  • Visual and Tactile Learning: The abacus provides a visual and tactile way to learn math, making it easier for some learners to grasp concepts.
  • Improved Problem-Solving Skills: Abacus training can help develop problem-solving skills by encouraging logical thinking and systematic approaches to calculations.
  • Increased Accuracy and Speed: Abacus training can lead to faster and more accurate calculations.
  • Overall Cognitive Development: Abacus learning can contribute to overall cognitive development, including memory, creativity, and analytical thinking.

Earlier, teaching abacus to kids at home was a big challenge as it was practically very difficult to take classes on video conferencing and making the kids practice on workbooks. Checking classwork and homework, taking exams and evaluating students and at the same time making the classes interesting and engaging for kids was a real uphill task. With the introduction of the E-learning platform by Company, the scenario has completely changed. The interactive portal of BrainBuild  having an integrated screen of video conferencing with content video ensures excellent learning of kids without any workbooks. The entire practice is in form of game exercises which makes learning a fun-filled experience for kids. Online exams and evaluation, digital classwork, and homework make the Mastermind E-learning platform the best choice for teaching abacus to kids from the convenience of their homes.

Yes, we do conduct Center, State, National level Competitions. The Competitions are conducted through online & offline mode. Students can enroll in these competitions through a BrainBuild Abacus Center.

No, the confusion will not arise. The child who have already learnt the basic addition and subtraction in school is learning how to do the same on the abacus, but with much greater speed and accuracy. In school the child would be doing problems which involves step-by-step method. The advantage the child gets is that they can crosscheck the accuracy of the answer where quickly if they have learnt abacus too.

Yes, the child can do mental calculations even after they complete their course. The only thing is that they should keep practicing it in between.

Abacus is used to perform all the basic arithmetic calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It can also be used to extract the square root and the cubic root, Along With This Children Can Learn Percentile, BODMAS with help of abacus

Vedic Mathematics is a collection of Techniques/Sutras to solve mathematical arithmetics in easy and faster way. It consists of 16 Sutras (Formulae) and 13 sub-sutras (Sub Formulae) which can be used for problems involved in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, conics.

Vedic mathematics, simplifies arithmetic and algebraic operations, and has increasingly found acceptance the world over.

Vedic Mathematics helps find solutions in a single or a few steps where as conventional methods require multiple steps.

Vedic Mathematics eases and simplifies multiplication, divisibility, complex numbers, squaring, cubing, square and cube roots. Even recurring decimals and auxiliary fractions can be handled by Vedic Mathematics.

● It helps to solve mathematical problems 10-15 times faster.

● It reduces burden.( need to learn tables upto 9 only)

● It reduces scratch work in mathematics as well as finger counting.

● Helps increase concentration.

● It helps in reducing silly mistakes.

    • Both Abacus and Vedic Maths are totally different. Abacus is a Chinese system of doing calculations using a calculating aid. Vedic Maths is a subject of Indian origin derived from the Vedas.

Abacus has its own usefulness. It can help in doing arithmetic calculations (which was the purpose for its invention). But it has no room for Compound Multiplication, Squaring, Cubing, Algebra, etc. These topics and much more can be learnt using Vedic Maths with ease. Moreover, there are no alternate ways to perform a calculation in Abacus, but in Vedic Maths, there are multiple options to do a single calculation.

Firstly, there is no hard and fast rule with regards to the age. We usually start from children of 10 years and above. Secondly, there is nothing like 'an ideal age' to learn Vedic Maths. It's equally helpful for working professionals who need to perform a lot of number crunching in their daily work, like Accountants, Share Brokers, Traders, Professionals (especially in Construction field who have to perform calculations involving different units of measurements like Inches & Feet, Yards & Feet, Hectares & Ares, etc. For such people, Vedic Maths is a boon. For children, Vedic Maths is useful in removing the fear for Maths, creating an interest in Maths, cracking scholarship exams, facilitating creativity through pattern observation & recognition. Students appearing for competitive exams like CET, CAT, GRE, GMAT, Govt exams, Banking exams, etc, get 45-60 seconds to attempt a question. Vedic Maths helps them to do calculation faster than the conventional techniques
